The Canadian International Fashion Film Festival (CANIFFF) is a platform and event that engages, exciting directors, artists, new and established talent, advertisers, designers, producers, fashion industry leaders and audience. The Canadian International Fashion Film Festival will showcase and support the diverse medium and visionary talent through impactful, cutting edge storytelling.
Director and Co-founder, Katrina Olson-Mottahed, shared where the idea initially came from "after traveling to other film festivals and making friends in the industry, we realized it was an important to build a fashion film platform for in Canada. The film festivals and fashion scene have been growing exponentially in Calgary over the fast 5 years. It is great to bring these two industries together".
So thanks to the team behind CANIFFF, Calgary gets a much needed cultural fashion boost at the most opportune time, right after Stampede! So please put away the jeans, plaid and cowboy boots and get creative with your look for attending the event. Katrina says that typically the dress at film festivals is a "hybrid" of styles but we would really like to encourage putting some effort into it. For inspiration think of contemporary art, architectural silhouettes and juxtaposition/proportion. Some inspo below:
